Inside Climate News: California Gears Up for a New Composting Law to Cut Methane Emissions and Enrich Soil

Agromin’s Cody Cain recently spoke to a reporter at Inside Climate News about how California SB 1383 may enable farmers to use more compost to not only enrich their farmland but to help capture and retain more water—critical in today’s severe drought conditions.

Under SB 1383, California jurisdictions must cut the amount of green waste they send to landfills by 75 percent by 2025 to reduce the amount of methane gas coming from the waste if it were deposited in landfills. This means more compost for farmers who can benefit from the compost’s organic materials and its water-retention benefits.
