Mike Powers is the founder and managing partner of CoolPath, one of Agromin’s partners. He recently wrote an article for Environmental Business Outlook about the value of using compost made from recycled organic material to restore California’s rangeland soil health.

California has over 60 million acres of private and public rangeland, according to research by the University of California/Agriculture and Natural Resources. Our rangeland soil has been degraded over the years by overgrazing, the introduction of invasive species, and drought. Using compost from organic waste increases grassland volume, improves its nutritional value, and enhances water infiltration and storage, while sequestering carbon to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
